“To Find Love As An International Student In America Is More Difficult Than Physics.”-Nigerian Man Living In The US Recounts His First Date Experience

A young Nigerian man named ifeanyi Eze based in the US has remembered his early days in the US at Texas as a student still searching for love.

Ifeanyi who’s now happily married shared his encounter with a white girl he went on a date with after meeting her on a dating site. The girl asked him what he earned and he jokingly said $50 yearly, but her response was shocking as she revealed he doesn’t make enough money to date her, as she won’t even date down.

Ifeanyi who was wowed agrees that to find love as an international student in America is more difficult than physics.

He wrote:

“This photo was taken when I went for my first date in Texas. I moved to Houston newly and met a white girl on a dating app.

She invited me to a coffee shop. We hugged. I grabbed a cup of caramel macchiato. She got mocha latte. We talked about a lot of things. Until she asked me what I do for a living. I said I work in research and do PhD concurrently.

She was excited when she heard PhD. She said “Nigerians are very motivated. I believe you’re making a lot of money in that field.”

I said I make $50k/year hoping she would be impressed. She laughed and said that I don’t make enough money to date her. “I don’t date down, sorry.”

Wow. I didn’t know oyibo get such financial threshold in dating.

I wonder how she would have reacted if I told her I am a student who receives only stipend. The stipend is just enough to keep me alive and it’s not anywhere close to $50k.

Moral of the story: To find love as an international student in America is more difficult than physics.”.
