This 17-Yr-Old Boy Started Coding When He Was 12 Years Old, He Has Built Countless Apps And Projects, Ranked Amongst The Top 2% Of Young Developers In Africa

17 and Full Stack Developer?

Somehow these words don’t go together, right? That can be proven inaccurate by Eniola Osabiya, a 17-year-old full-stack developer and the joint founder of Frelapay – global payments & compliance solution for freelancers.

It all started for Eniola when he was just 12 and attending a church-sponsored coding boot camp. For the other teenagers his age, it was just another summer camp, but for him, it was an opportunity he couldn’t pass up.

Eniola picked up the basics like HTML and CSS and worked on multiple projects like a library database, and an attendance management system, even starting to teach others coding.

The journey to becoming an established coder hasn’t been easy for Eniola, to the point that he didn’t even have a personal computer at first. With persistence and determination and a no-excuse philosophy, the teenager has now overcome his early obstacles and laid the groundwork for what may develop into a successful career as a designer in the tech industry.

Learning from examples and wishing to give back to the community, in January 2021, Eniola built a community called GenZtechies which amassed 750 Slack members in no time.

Eniola is an inspiration to those starting to code and to experienced developers too. His sights are set on bigger targets though and he’s bent upon being a ‘startup founder.’ He says, “I probably just want to be an entrepreneur. I didn’t know whether I can classify this as a career path. I’ll just like to have my establishment and be able to be diverse in a lot of things.

I have interests in a couple of things that I’ll like to build solutions around; education, and social good. I am working on some of them.”
