There Are No Bad Individuals In A Marriage, Couples Often Exhibit What They Learned From Their Parents’ Marriages — Comedian Funnybone

Nigerian comedian Funnybone has spoken about the importance of understanding the different backgrounds and values people bring into marriage.

He advised unmarried people to gain perspective by listening to those who are married and going through the realities of relationships.

He said he personally tries not to use his faith as a Christian when discussing marriage, stressing that people naturally know the difference between right and wrong.

According to him, the foundation a person comes from plays a major role in how they interact, communicate and relate with others.

“There is no bad individual in that bad marriage, that man was good, that woman was good but you’re coming from where you are carrying what you’re carrying from your foundation,” he said.

Funnybone explained that two people can come from completely different family backgrounds and carry those values into their marriage.

He gave an example of a man who grew up in a home where his father had the final say and a woman who grew up with a mother who was more dominant while her father withdrew to maintain peace.

“This guy would constantly want his value and his voice to be heard. This girl wants her own value to shine. Now that doesn’t make her a bad person. They are both manifesting their values,” he said.

He added that couples need to find common ground and learn to give each other room to express themselves.

Funnybone also disagreed with the idea that people should simply leave two adults to work out their relationship on their own.

“I don’t take the popular quote that leave two adults to work it out. What do you know that you’re working out?” he said.

He concluded by stressing the importance of accountability and having people who can guide and correct individuals in their relationships.

“The most dangerous person to be with, relationship, business, family, courtship, is anybody who has no authority over him or her,” he said.
