Long post
Feb 12.2022. I wrote a long post detailing how I was a single mother in college. Working, graduated with honors, accepted a teacher role and 5 years later I’m ready to transition out of the classroom. Can someone give me a chance?
9,819 likes, 708 comments, 65 shares, 704,534 impressions. Roughly 943 rejection emails from small and big corporations.
April 5, 2022. I received an email from Sandra Galvis about how she stumbled across that same post. She loved my story and thought that my unique background would be a great fit for her team and proceeded to schedule a call with me.
Sandra Galvis then put me in touch with her amazing team to speak with. I had an amazing talk with Cindy Healy and her words to me were, “I love giving people a chance”.
Now it’s time for me to send in my resume. Now with this same post, I’ve met so many amazing people and one that stuck with me still to this day is Marlo Lyons, PCC, SPHR, GPHR, JD Marlo has supported me throughout this journey. I could’ve sent in any resume but I decided to create a video that she helped me with.
The video turned out great and Sandra and her team loved it and how creative it was. Thank you!
Fast forward to June, I have been in constant communication with Sandra and now it’s time for 3 rounds of interviews.
As nervous as I was I went in thinking that no matter what God has my back. If this is for me it will be.
On June 22, 2022, I received and accepted my offer which changed my life. I cried for 4 days straight……I sat back and thought about the times when I had to sleep on a friend’s floor with my kids because I didn’t have a place at the moment, the times I couldn’t afford to eat but made sure my babies were okay, the times where I wanted to give up and not finish school, the times where I was told that I wouldn’t be anything in life because I had my kids so young.
These weren’t sad tears, they were happy tears. Grateful to be given such a blessing.
Not only did I accept an offer that increased my salary tremendously, but I accepted an offer company that truly cares about its employees.
Microsoft goes above and beyond to make sure we are taken care of. Microsoft values work-life balance and the culture of their company. A team that from day one made me feel welcomed.
Thank you for helping with the transition. I am honored to be working with you guys. Sandra Galvis Cindy Healy Mollie Fox Hope Williams, PMP (SHE/HER) thank you guys so much for everything.
What I’ve learned from this transition in my life is to not give up. Manifest what is yours. Write it down, what is meant for you will come to you. If something isn’t happening how you want it, it’s not time for you to get it. Take your time. Be patient. Stay consistent. Never give up!
