“Since I Came To America, I No Longer Pray For 10 Minutes Or 20 Minutes “- US Based Nigerian Man

“Since I came to America, I no longer pray for 10 minutes or 20 minutes. What am I praying for? The things I used to pray for back home in Africa, asking God to provide for me, I came to Yankee and discovered that the government and the system have already provided those things for people.

So now, why do I need to pray for one hour and be disturbing my God? No way. I will not disturb my God. Many of us here in the diaspora are living the prayer points of people back home in Africa.

This is not to bring people back home down o. This is to let those of you back home in Africa know how much you have been shortchanged by your politicians.

I can remember when I was back home in Nigeria after graduating. I would pray for 30 minutes, 40 minutes, sometimes fast, just to get a job. Then I came to Yankee and realized that I was wasting my time praying for some things back home in Nigeria.

First of all, we pray for jobs back home in Africa, but those jobs are not really there. Many people are praying for jobs that don’t even exist. And the few jobs that are available are given to people with connections in government.

Imagine a country like Nigeria where, whenever there is employment, the government gives some slots to chairmen and politicians to share among their followers, while graduates and skilled people who are qualified for those jobs are languishing on the streets without work.

See, if you have never travelled abroad, you may think the way things are back home is how life is everywhere. If you want to know how much your politicians are deceiving you, get a visa, travel to a developed country, and see how even dogs have rights.

For those of you in Nigeria, you have two options: unite, stand up and fight for good governance, or process a visa and travel abroad…”
