Romance Isn’t About Chocolates And Flowers Any More. I Gave My Wife My First Biggest Cheque Of About N100M — Veteran Actor Richard Mofe-Damijo Reveals

Veteran Nollywood actor Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD) has shared how he expressed his love for his wife after receiving the biggest cheque of his career, saying romance has evolved beyond flowers and chocolates.

Speaking on The Morayo Show, the 65-year-old actor described himself as “an incurable romantic” before joking that, “These days, it’s never about flowers and chocolates anymore. Ladies like money now.”

He went on to reveal that when he received the biggest cheque of his life, worth about ₦100 million, he handed it over to his wife.

“The first time I had the biggest cheque I’ve ever had in my life, I had like a 100M cheque. So I said, ‘Give it to my wife.’ When she got it, she said, ‘You want me to keep it for your children?’ So I said, ‘No, keep it for yourself,’” he recounted.

Reflecting on turning 65, RMD said he considers every new year a blessing because his parents did not live to celebrate 60.
“I feel like I’m living on extra time right now. My parents didn’t make 60. My life is one of gratitude. I’m happy to be alive,” he said.

On how he has maintained his youthful appearance, the actor credited healthy living and a positive mindset.

Quoting advice he lives by, he said, “The only way for an old person to stay young is to never let the old person in.”
