Prominent Businessman, CEO Of Legacy Motors, Okey Ezeibe Found Dead In Hotel Room In Owerri

Chief Okey Ezeibe has been found dead in his hotel room in Owerri, Imo State, at the age of 66.

Reports said he was in the state for a meeting when his associates discovered his body after he failed to leave the hotel as scheduled, with a heart attack mentioned as the probable cause of death

Ezeibe, who hailed from Awgbu in Anambra State, was reportedly in Imo for a scheduled meeting when he was found dead on Sunday, September 20, 2026.

According to reports, he was expected to meet Chief Martins Agbaso, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) governorship candidate in Imo State, after their earlier meeting arrangement could not hold. When Ezeibe failed to leave his hotel room at the agreed time, his associates reportedly knocked on the door before eventually forcing it open and discovering his body.

It was reported that information available at the time pointed to a possible heart attack, but there has been no official medical confirmation of the cause of death.

Until his death, Ezeibe was the founder and CEO of Legacy Motors and had served as President and a Board of Trustees member of the Balogun Business Association at the Lagos International Trade Fair Complex.

His death has triggered an outpouring of tributes from associates, friends and members of his community.
