Pretty Ghanaian lady who carried concrete to pay school fees now a graduate

”When born in the rural part of northern Ghana as a girl, you’re automatically entitled to the kitchen as your profession.” A harsh but true reality, amplified by a young Ghanaian graduate who had to turn her misfortunes into a fortune.

Nfai Eunice Tayemiyar adds to the number of inspirational stories highlighted by YEN.com.gh in 2019, that affirm that no fortified hurdles stand a chance with a dream determined to be. Born in a deprived home in the rural part of Northern Ghana, Nfai, Eunice Tayemiyar, challenged her downing reality and financial setbacks that threatened her education.

The burden of providing for herself became very necessary after her mother died during delivery and her father was hardly present after he moved to stay with his new wife. From carrying concrete to other menial jobs, she had to find ways to make ends meet and to finance her school fees. As a teenager, she was compelled to work to register for her BECE exams after her father told her he couldn’t finance it. Now a graduate in MSC Project Management, Nfai, Eunice Tayemiyar, shares her motivating story in the most touching way.

She writes: ”When born in the rural part of northern Ghana as a girl, you’re automatically entitled to the kitchen as your profession. I was born into a very poor family, my mom died giving birth to me. I grew up knowing my grandmom as my biological mom, she put me through school, died when I was 12yrs old. My dad moved in with my stepmom, they didn’t believe in a girl child education. When it was time to register for my BECE exams, my dad said there was no money, meaning I wouldn’t take the exams and that would have been the end of my schooling probably.

I decided to find work to help me raise the money, that led me into carrying concrete. The hardship I went through when my grandmother died made me determined to go through school, better myself so my children wouldn’t go through what I went through. I managed to see myself through senior high school, how I managed to finish my 1st degree is a story for another day. Giving up is never part of me, I don’t even know if that word exists for me. I graduated in MSC project management on the 28th November 2019, this is not my last stop. I haven’t gotten to where i want to be, but I am proud of where I have reached.
