Pastor Iren Reacts After A Married Woman Said If Her Husband Stops Having Money She Will Leave Him Immediately
Pastor Iren has shared an encounter from his MBA days, where a married woman told him she would immediately leave her husband if he stopped having money.
According to the pastor, the woman joined him and another classmate in a car while discussing her marriage. During the conversation, she made her position clear.
“She said if her husband stops having money she will leave him immediately,” he recounted.
Pastor Iren said he initially thought the woman was joking, but she insisted that she saw no reason to remain in the marriage if her husband could no longer provide financially.
“I looked at her, I thought she was joking. She said, of course now. What is she staying in the marriage for?” he said.
He, however, noted that the situation could be understood within the context of the values that shaped the relationship from the beginning.
“And if you are feeling sorry for the husband, think again, because in a dating culture that only puts forth possession, that was the contract. I’m pretty sure you have money, we have a deal,” he explained.
Using the experience to teach about marriage, Pastor Iren said Christians should understand that marriage goes beyond a transactional arrangement.
“When you are in Christ, you now recognize marriage is not a contract, it’s a covenant,” he said.
He advised singles to look beyond physical attraction, material possessions and other qualities they desire in a partner, stressing that people should consider who would stand by them during difficult seasons.
“You are picking for your best days. Let me tell you, to pick the right person, ask yourself this Who can I entrust myself with on my worst days?” he said.
He added that kingdom marriage should be built around purpose rather than temporary emotions, concluding, “In kingdom marriage, it’s purpose above feeling.”
