Orji Kalu Seeks for post-conviction bail Laments Over His Health

A former governor of Abia state, Orji Uzor Kalu, who was recently sentenced to a 12-year jail term by a Federal High Court in Lagos, on Tuesday, December 17, applied for a post-conviction bail.

Kalu applied for the bail on the grounds that he is presently battling with his poor health which the prison facility cannot take care of. The former chief whip of the Senate also said that his constituency will suffer terrible setback if he remains in prison, The Nation reports.

However, Kalu’s bail application has been opposed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commision (EFCC).
