Nigerians Should Stop Complaining, Start Finding Solutions To Our Problems

Richard Mofe-Damijo, the ace Nollywood actor better known as RMD, has called on Nigerians to offer solutions to the nation’s challenges instead of merely complaining.

Speaking at the Pivot Nigeria Conference held on Tuesday at the Muson Centre in Lagos, the actor criticised some Nigerians for being “too quick to condemn,” urging them to hold leaders accountable and take an active role in governance.

RMD noted that many Nigerians’ actions and conduct can shape how the country is perceived abroad.

He also encouraged citizens to be patient and contribute to nation-building, describing Nigeria as a “young” country.

‎“We are too quick to condemn us. There are problems but we need to fix them. Don’t stand and just criticise and then proffer no solution,” he said.

The film star also cautioned citizens against expecting immediate transformation in the country, describing Nigeria as “a work in progress”.

“We are a country, we’re a work in progress, and we must continue just doing the work,” he added.

Victoria Uwadoka, the conference’s convener, said the platform was created to encourage Nigerians to recognise their strengths and consider how their actions shape the country’s image.

She urged Nigerians to participate in civic affairs, hold leaders accountable and tell balanced stories about the country while acknowledging its challenges and achievements.
