Nigerian Mum Of 3, Who Wrote Exams With Baby Strapped To Her Back, Bags Msc At John Hopkins University

A Nigerian lady identified as Oluomachukwu Umeojiaka has shared her joy after bagging her Masters’ degree from John Hopkins University despite having three little children.

According to the lady, she traveled to Baltimore for her Masters program with the mindset and hopes that it would be easy and straightforward but in reality, it wasn’t.

The smart mum worked hard and now has bagged her Masters degree in Public Health from the University despite having three children she is taking care of.

While sharing her story via LinkedIn, the smart mum revealed how she had to write some exams with her baby strapped to her back.

Read her story below:

I thought I had it figured out, a standby nanny, preschool and primary care provider for the kids, accommodation, an international driver’s license, a smart study plan etc.

I fought everyone that had any opinion not supporting my move to Baltimore with my 3 toddlers including my husband.

Integral plans i had made failed right from the customs clearance at the border. How do I complain and to who? I had fought everyone and it seemed like a challenge at this point.

Tearfully I pushed and settled in, no day passed by without struggles and questioning my decision. I was certainly not going to defer and had my mind set on graduating with my cohort, it’s too late to turn back now.

Some exams were written with baby strapped to the back and the others screaming lungs out in the background….. well their noise did sound like calm waters. I was confident that having studied relentlessly and with God on my side, little distraction from the trio won’t make me fail.

Days into weeks, weeks into months and here we are….

The start was hard and painful but the end was beautiful and glorious. Learnt some lessons though, HUMANS ARE ONE’S GREATEST ASSET and I’m not taking up such feats again…. well at least for now lol.

Here is a happy, fulfilled, resilient and skillful health advocate signing out from Johns Hopkins, the number 1 school of public Health with a Masters in Public Health and certificate in Maternal and Child Health.

Speaking on getting discouragement from people, she said Before setting out to Baltimore where her school is located, I got discouraging messages from people but I refused to pay heed.
