Nigerian Man Shares How He Was Scammed Of N380K

Around 2016, I was scámmed ₦380k in Delta state. The sad part was centered on the fact that the money wasn’t mine. My aunty had given me the money to keep for her so she doesn’t spend it because she was carrying out a project.

The only reason why the scámmer was able to get me is because I was very grẹ́edy. You know 98 percent of every scám comes as a result of grẹ́ed. Either by wanting to gain more with less, or wanting to reap where one didn’t sow.

On that faithful day, this guy whom I don’t know called me on phone pretending to be one wealthy chief I knew in Awka. The man was into all these MTN contracts then, so he had lots of money. I was so excited about things I would gain that my brain stopped functioning. He told me how a project came up and how he needed few partners who can bring ₦1 million naira and collect ₦5 million at end of the month which was just 9 days away.

I do not have that kind of money sir. Later he asked how much do I have? I said nothing, except the money my aunty gave me to keep for her. I told him because the man I thought I was speaking to knows my aunty. In fact, they are best of friends. He asked the amount, I told him. He ordered me to send the money to him and on no account should I let my aunty know. He said by month end, I will be given ₦2 million naira since I couldn’t partner with ₦1 million. I happily gave him the money.

I used about 2 to 3 days to send the money across. POS wasn’t popular then. That was how I emptied my account and was gladly waiting for month end to reap from where I did not sow. Month end, I called the number, a lady picked. I asked her about Chief and she said he was in a meeting. But he told her to send me ₦2 million naira. But I have to send ₦20k to process my transfer code.

That was when I told Ada my cousin to lend me ₦20k. She asked what for? I narrated my experience to her and how I will pay her double once they credit my account. She looked at me and said they have scámmed you. Immediately I heard that word, my senses came back. I called the number again, this time around with my clear eyes. Immediately I asked the first question “Who exactly are you?”, they ended the call and I never heard from them again till date.

I told my aunty, she called the real chief and he said he never did any business with me. Till date, my aunty still doubts the scám story I narrated.

If you like, be like me.
