Nigerian Lady Who Believed That Only People From Wealthy Homes Can Travel Abroad, Discovers How Ordinary Folks Took A Chance On “Japa”, Says Don’t Let Your Background Stop You
Nigerian lady named Sonia Diarie on Facebook has shared how she thought traveling abroad was for the wealthy untill she eventually landed abroad and discovered that ordinary folks live there too. The lady went further to admonish people who are planning to relocate abroad to go ahead regardless of their background.
Sharing on Facebook, she wrote:
“Before I traveled abroad, I used to believe that only people from wealthy or upper-middle-class backgrounds could make it out of their home country.
But when I finally arrived in Europe, I discovered that those living abroad are just everyday people like you and me — ordinary folks who took a chance on “japa” and made it work.
I’ve met people juggling multiple jobs, some who took the asylum route, others who transitioned from student visas to work permits.
Some were lucky enough to secure scholarships and tuition waivers, while others naturalized through marriage or found entirely different ways to settle abroad.
From these experiences, I’ve learned two important lessons:
1️⃣ Anything is possible if you believe in it.
2️⃣ There’s no single path to success.
Not everyone will “japa,” but don’t let your background stop you. If moving abroad is your destiny, it’s always better to try and fail than never to try at all. Just be sure to do it the right way, because what works in one place can work in another.
