Mgborogwu Lilian is young and talented, she’s an inspiration to young ladies who want to delve into her line of business as she has created a platform that trains young ladies. She speaks to Elorasblog in this interview.

Please introduce yourself and tell us more about your background?

My name’s are Mgborogwu Lilian chioma, am from IMO STATE. A family of 10, last child, a graduate of microbiology.

You’re an Entrepreneur, what does your business entails?

I’m into confectionaries.

Yes I am, entering this business, I noticed that there are lots of people before me, after me and lots more are interested in joining, which makes it difficult cause you trying to be the best where there are lots of talented Baker’s everywhere, but I know what I bring to the table and I know there is none like me.

What is the name of your business, were you trained for this business?

The name of my business is INDULGENCEBRIDAL.
Yes I was trained, I train people as well & am still going for more advanced classes. Cake business is not what you learn and sit at a place, unless you want to be an old school cause new designs emerge everyday and you need to keep upgrading.

What inspired you to start up your business?

I love Art, I remember telling my Dad that I wanted to study art and he was like, who is going to pay for that? So I ended up going into science cause according to my parents I was good at it but my passion has always been on Art. So after school I went into cake training for my personal gain, there and then, I found myself, it was like I found what I don’t even know I was looking for. The art work in cake business drives me nuts and the fact that you can eat it after, making it makes it more fascinating.

How were you able to raise fund to start up your business?

I’m still struggling with that.
I started from baking at home now I graduated to getting a shop. Some time I think it would have been easier if my parents were here with me but on a second thought I wouldn’t have experienced what I have, and you know experience is the best teacher.

What major challenges have you encountered in your business?

As a starter, gaining ground is one hell of a challenge, cause you have to give quality & quantity for a low cost in other to attract customers, sometimes you even have no profit. Aside from that every work you get is a challenge no matter how small, cake business has to do with pleasing people and is not easy to please someone. Every detail matters especially when you’re copying someone else’s design.

What platform do use to advertise your business?

So far so good, Facebook has been a good and only platform I used and still using to advertise my business.

You’re the boss, how does it feel working for yourself?

Being a boss has its own advantages and disadvantages.
Advantages:
You get to be the planner of your schedule, how you dress , go on holiday without being afraid of losing your job and more.
Disadvantages:
You get to think for urself, your trainee, business growth, budget and expenditure believe me is exhausting.

Will you say it’s been financially rewarding?

Not yet, INDULGENCEBRIDAl is just 6 months old, I am still investing. Ask me this question after 3 years.

Where do you see your brand in 5 years?

In 5yrs from now with the help of the almighty God I should be able to own a Bridal Mall called INDULGENCEBRIDAl here in Owerri & would have spread my branches Nation wide.
