Nigeria as a country has never been short of talents or individuals with good heads on their shoulders. Jessica Williams is not in anyway different. The young lady, according to Wikipedia, invented a football she called Soccket that is able to generate electricity and power 6 hours of LED light.

Jessica Williams, who had her upbringing in the United States, Poughkeepsie, New York has a dual citizenship – a Nigerian as well as an American.

The Harvard Business School graduate and the second child in a family of four is all shades of excellent lady. She is not only an inventor, Jessica is also the chief executive officer of her own company and a venture capitalist.

In August 2013, the Nigeria government recognised her work with an ambassadorial role. The then Minister of Trade and Investments, Dr. Olusegun Aganga, described her as a source of inspiration to teeming Nigeria youths and children. He said: “Mathews is an inspiration to every Nigerian, especially children, and the product is portrayed as made by a Nigerian for the world. “The product is actually versatile, it is not just about the electricity you see, you can use it to charge your mobile phones and fans so there are so many things for which it can be used. “We are also looking at the possibilities of manufacturing it in Nigeria and see how we can make it cheaper in this country. “I am glad that Matthews has also agreed to be our ambassador in terms of promoting entrepreneurship in our universities.

“What we want to do is to bring successful entrepreneurs like Matthew to inspire the students and make them more creative so that they can also be employers of labour.”
