Meet Entrepreneur Ishola Adekunle Buhari, Founder Of Elite Muv Express Logistics, A Firm That Helps Businesses Deliver Their Valuables

Young Entrepreneur and an Accountant Ishola Adekunle Buhari, is the CEO of Elite Muv Express Logistics, a firm that helps people and businesses deliver their valuables in a fast, easy and convenient manner.

He came up with this business idea because he wanted to solve a major challenge, as some of his friends complained about how they were not satisfied with the service of many logistic firms in Lagos. He speaks to Elorasblog in this interview.

Please tell us a little bit about your background?

My name is Ishola Adekunle Buhari, i studied Accountancy from Moshood Abiola Polytechnic and graduated in 2018. I served in Delta state in 2019 and I worked in an audit firm, I am currently the Chief Accountant at one of the leading Outsourcing Companies in Lagos. I was born into a family of six as the eldest.

While we were younger, we had dreams of being in different profession, would you say this is what you’ve always wanted to do?

When I was young, I have always had the dream of building something, making a difference in people’s lives. But career wise I wanted to be a banker. I am currently an Accountant, I haven’t worked in a bank before but am not so big on that dream anymore. Now, I think about building my own business.
EM Express was birthed out of need to solve a challenge, some of my friends complain about how they were not satisfied with the service of many logistic firms in Lagos. I decided to do my research online and offline, the reviews were quite below average. I knew I could do better in a business like this. I shared the idea with a couple of my friends and we drew up the template and today we are up and running.

Please tell us more about the services your company provides?

As at now, we are only into movement of goods and valuables with bikes, people like to call it pickups and deliveries, I call it dispatch.
We are a logistics firm that helps people and businesses deliver their valuables in a fast, easy and convenient manner. We are committed to solving the challenges and bottleneck that surrounds movement of goods and valuables in Lagos
We pick up different kind of products ranging from food, food stuffs, semi sized gadget, jewelleries, bags, shoes, clothes, beauty accessories to practically any package our dispatch box can carry.
We are working on expanding and grow to the use of buses and trucks in the future.

How did you came up with this business idea, what was the inspiration?

As I said earlier, the idea was born out of necessity but the inspiration was my personal burning desire to one day start a business.

Logistics businesses are quite sensitive, in the sense that items maybe misplaced, what measures have you put in place to avoid such situations?

Yes, you are absolutely right, it a very delicate business and apart from what you have already mentioned, the riders are at risk too because they work on major roads and highway.
Firstly, we provide lessons for our Rider on the process of effective riding on Lagos roads, educate them on safely tips to avoid accident. We also have an accident insurance for all our riders. We make sure all customers valuables are well packaged and prevent roughness or damages.
Our riders are lectured on the ways of keeping customer valuables safe and ways to keep track of the packages to avoid wrong order or misplaced packages. All these are not carried out by the Riders’ alone. We have a monitoring team that assist in making to very easy for them.

How can people build their trust in your company, how do you intend to achieve this?

As a trained Accountant, one of our most valued principle is integrity, in dealing with our customers. Integrity is as important as quality of our service. We put ourselves in the shoes of the customer to understand their needs and proffer viable solution. We inform our customers on the time frame for orders and keep our word. We believe honesty is important in this business and we respect our customers time, if we cannot keep up with an order, we let the customer know immediately, try to reschedule, if it’s still not possible. We politely decline the order.

In Nigeria, talented entrepreneurs hardly get support from the government, what can you say about this?

For me, I think the government needs to do more to support small businesses in Nigeria, I personally haven’t approached any government agency fir financial support. Even at that, they make survival difficult, they request for numerous and countless permits and papers. We have to pay to enable operation. It becomes even more unpalatable for us when some set of security agencies and hoodlums stop our riders on the road for the sole purpose of extortion despite checking and certifying that all our papers are complete. Government needs to do better on this.

Where do you see Elite Muv Express Logistics in 5 years?

In five years, we want to be one of the leading logistics company in Nigeria, to solve dispatch, transportation and logistics challenges for individuals, small businesses and top companies in the country.
