Members were already anxious about March allowance after the management shut down all the orientation camps nationwide.
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has started paying the sum of N33,000 to all corps members being the allowance for the month of March amid the outbreak of the global pandemic called COVID-19.
The information was disclosed on the scheme’s information page on Facebook on Tuesday, March 31. Corps members who have not yet received their allowance have been urged to check their clearance status. NYSC had earlier assured corps members that their allowance for the month of March would be paid despite the coronavirus pandemic worldwide.
It would be recalled that as a preventive measure against the dreaded coronavirus, the NYSC ordered that all orientation camps across Nigeria be shut.
The directive was issued from the NYSC headquarters in Abuja early Wednesday, March 18. Those in the camps currently are the 2020 Batch A Stream 1, across 37 centres in the country.
