If You’re Yoruba And Want To Marry Yoruba In 2026, Your Life Is Finished; If You’re Igbo And Want To Marry Igbo, The Marriage Will Not Work — TikToker Peller Advocates For Intertribal Marriage

Popular Nigerian streamer Peller has sparked reactions after advising Yoruba and Igbo people against marrying partners from their respective ethnic groups, insisting that intertribal marriages are preferable.

According to Peller, people from the same tribe may understand each other too well, leaving little room for surprises in their relationships.

“If you are a Yoruba and want to marry a Yoruba in 2026, bro, your life is finish. And if you are Igbo, you want to marry Igbo, your life is finish,” he said.

Explaining his position, the Yoruba entertainer argued that marrying someone from another ethnic group could offer a different experience, as partners from the same background already share similar cultural knowledge and ways of thinking.

“Wetin me, I be Yoruba, you be Yoruba. Wetin I know for Yoruba, you know am. And I go just let you know, bro, where I get sense reach for Yoruba, you get sense reach there. You fit even do pass me,” Peller stated.

He also used his preference for a Benin woman as an example, suggesting that marrying outside his ethnic group would bring a different dynamic to his relationship.

“Me, wey go marry my Benin girl, na no know say I get wetin I dey think. I no fit marry my Yoruba girl, God forbid,” he added.

Peller further insisted that even a financial incentive would not change his mind about marrying a Yoruba woman.

“If dem tell us say I pay now, you can plus one, bro, I no go still even marry my Yoruba girl. Na fact I dey tell you,” he said.

Using his parents’ marriage as another example, the streamer pointed out that both of them are Yoruba, before suggesting that people should consider relationships across ethnic lines.

“My daddy is a Yoruba, my mommy is a Yoruba. See my life outside o,” he remarked.

He concluded by urging young people to take his advice seriously, despite his age, insisting that his opinion was based on what he considered a real-life lesson.
