‘I Want To Japa To Japan’ — Benue 21-Year-Old Female Mechanic Seeks Better Future Abroad Because She Believes Her Skills Would Be Better Appreciated Abroad

Twenty-one-year-old Benue-based automobile mechanic, Cynthia Omede, has expressed her desire to relocate to Japan, saying she believes her skills would be better appreciated abroad than in Nigeria, where she continues to face gender discrimination and harassment.

Speaking about her journey, Cynthia said she defied family opposition to pursue automobile mechanics and has spent the past three years building her expertise in the male-dominated profession.

Despite overcoming stereotypes and earning respect for her work, she said persistent prejudice has convinced her that her future lies outside the country.

“My biggest dream is to specialise in Japanese automobiles by moving to Japan, where I believe my talent will be appreciated without the stigma of being a female mechanic,” she said. She added that her focus remains on building a successful career while encouraging more young women to pursue their passions regardless of societal expectations.
