“I Used To Think Love Was About Finding The Right Person, But At 30, I Don’t Believe That Anymore.”-BBNaija’s Sheggz
“I used to think love was about finding the right person, but at 30, I don’t believe that anymore.
I have had relationships that looked amazing on the outside and I have had relationships that completely humbled me, but every single one taught me something. One of the biggest lesson that I learnt is, love doesn’t just expose the other person, it also exposes you.
Your ego, your communication, your insecurities, your patience and the parts to be you thought were perfect.
I used to think the best relationships were with people that didn’t challenge me. Now, I have realized that the best relationships are the relationship that challenge you to be the best version of yourself constantly. So these days, I’m less impressed by chemistry, but I’m more impressed by consistency.
Can we communicate when we are upset? Can we take accountability when we are wrong? Can we protect each other’s peace instead of just trying to prove that you are right or I’m right?
At 30, I don’t think love is finding someone that’s perfect, I think love is two imperfect people coming together to grow, respect each other and build something special together, and yea, that’s the situation I’m trying to build, not perfection, just my version of what’s perfect basically.”
