“I Saw Him Snap A Bad Road, When Did Governance Become Comedy?”- Dave Umahi Challenges Peter Obi To Debate
Minister of Works David Umahi has criticised Peter Obi for highlighting a bad road on social media, questioning whether governance has become “comedy” and challenging the former Anambra governor to a public debate.
The exchange is the latest in a series of political back-and-forths between Obi and members of the APC as discussions around governance and the 2027 elections continue.
Minister of Works, David Umahi, has fired back at former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, questioning his style of opposition politics and challenging him to a public debate.
Umahi’s remarks come after Peter Obi recently shared photos and videos of a deteriorating federal road during a trip, using the post to highlight concerns over infrastructure and governance.
Responding to the criticism, the minister argued that governance should not be reduced to social media content.
“I saw his social media when he got to a point where the road was bad, and he snapped it. When did governance reduce to comedy?” Umahi said, while challenging Obi to a debate over his administration’s performance in the works sector.
The exchange adds to the growing political rivalry between members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peter Obi ahead of the 2027 general elections, with both sides increasingly trading words over governance, infrastructure and the country’s economic direction.
Umahi’s comments have since sparked mixed reactions online, with supporters and critics of both politicians weighing in on the issue.
