Alexx Ekubo’s father has broken his silence following the actor’s death, describing the day he received the news as the darkest moment of his life.
During the service of songs held in Lagos, family members paid emotional tributes, while Alexx’s sister-in-law also shared heartfelt details about his marriage to his widow, Anwuli.

The service of songs held in honour of late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo was filled with emotion as family members paid touching tributes to the actor, including his elderly father, who publicly spoke about the tragedy for the first time.

In a tribute delivered on his behalf by one of Alexx’s brothers, Mazi Alex Ekubo recounted the devastating moment he received news of his son’s death, describing it as the darkest day of his life.

According to the tribute, the grieving father said nothing in his long life had prepared him for the pain of losing a child.

“The day I received the news of your passing was the darkest day of my life. I never imagined I would live to write a tribute to my son,” the message read.

The emotional tribute moved many attendees as the actor’s father reflected on the impact Alexx had on the family throughout his life.

Fondly referring to him as Ikenna, he described the late actor as a precious gift from God whose presence brought joy, happiness, and warmth to everyone around him.

“Ikenna, you were a precious gift from God that brought happiness and joy to the family. Your smile lit up the room,” he added.

The memorial service, attended by family members, colleagues, friends, and well-wishers, also featured emotional tributes from other relatives who shared personal memories of the actor.

One particularly touching moment came when Alexx’s sister-in-law spoke about his relationship with his widow, Anwuli.

According to her, the family immediately felt comfortable with Alexx when he formally approached them to seek Anwuli’s hand in marriage.

She described the actor as intentional, respectful, caring, and deeply committed to the people he loved, qualities that convinced the family he was the right partner for their daughter and sister.

The emotional tributes offered guests a glimpse into the actor’s private life and highlighted the profound loss felt by those closest to him.
