I Can’t Build With A Man From Scratch, Men Often Change Once They Achieve Financial Success – Kunle Afolayan’s Daughter

Eyiyemi Afolayan, the daughter of Kunle Afolayan, says she can’t “build with a man from scratch,” citing concerns that men often change once they achieve financial success.

In a recent interview with BBC News Yoruba, the 20-year-old rising Nollywood star explained her stance on relationships, saying she would not enter a marriage where she has to financially uplift her partner from the ground up.

“I can’t build with a man. Why I can’t build with a man? You know men; they are ingrates. If I marry a man that doesn’t have money and see money, if I marry him, he will stay with me, not because he loves me, but because he doesn’t have the money to be going around to be promiscuous,” she said.

The ‘Anikulapo’ star, who played Princess Omowunmi in the award-winning film, stressed that she was born into privilege and expects any suitor to already be established financially.

Eyiyemi also addressed the topic of polygamy, making it clear that she would never accept being a second or third wife. She attributed her stance not to jealousy but to her observations of the conflicts that frequently arise in polygamous households.

“I can’t be a second or third wife for any man. It is not because I am jealous or anything. Polygamous home comes with a lot of problem,” she said.

“I was born into wealth, any man that wants to marry me must be doing something for himself, I can’t be feeding him but I can support him.”

The actress, who comes from one of Nigeria’s most prominent entertainment families, has largely kept her personal life out of the public eye.
