“I Almost Threw My Child Out The Window” — Lolo 1 on Dealing With Postpartum Depression

Omotunde Adebowale, the actress and media personality better known as Lolo 1, has opened up about her battle with postpartum depression.

Speaking on a recent edition of News Central’s Jasiri show, Lolo 1 narrated how overwhelming it was caring for her first child.

She recalled that her daughter cried relentlessly, adding that she had never known any infant to cry that much.

Lolo 1 revealed that she kept battling a strong, almost irresistible impulse to fling the baby through the window.

The 49-year-old added that she would sometimes carry a stool and sit outside the door, hoping the child would stop crying once she was out of sight.

“When I had my daughter, she was my first born, and she was an extremely crying baby. Even till now, I do not think I have seen anyone’s baby cried as much as she cried,” she said.

“I used to have this uncontrollable urge to throw her out of the wíndow. When I am at home with her, I would take a stool and sit outside the door, that maybe because she was seeing me.”

Lolo 1 said her sister spent three months helping her care for the baby and herself.

She noted that the condition was unnamed back then, and said the new descriptions have made her grateful for the support she received.

“When my sister stayed with me for three months to care for the baby and me, the day she went back home, by the evening of that day, I took all my things to her husband’s house, because I could not stay with the child,” she added.

“But at that time, I do not think we had a name, now that you are giving us this descriptions, I just used like go back and say thank God that I have the support of my sister, my mum at that time.”
