How I Have Sustained My Marriage For 11 Years – Nosa Rex

Nosa Rex Okunzuwa, the Nollywood actor better known as Baba Rex, has attributed the longevity of his 11-year marriage to open communication, mutual understanding, and a strong foundation built before their wedding.

The actor spoke during an appearance on the ‘Nollywood on Radio’ podcast.

Okunzuwa revealed that before their wedding, he and his wife talked about the high rate of marital failures within the entertainment industry.

According to the actor, those conversations helped establish clear expectations from the outset.

“I told my wife that I would not misbehave. I told her that she should allow me to ball. If she is travelling, she should allow me to also travel. When we go to the club, I will come back early,” he said.

The actor emphasised that constant communication has been key to managing controversies that could arise from his public persona.

Baba Rex said he keeps his wife informed about his professional activities, including sharing photos with her before posting them online

He also disclosed that his wife serves as his unofficial cinematographer, filming some of his sexually themed content, a move he said has helped him maintain transparency and avoid marital friction.

“First of all, I would say thank God, and I would also like to give a big shout out to my wife. God gave me a blessing to call a wife,” he said.

“I have a very supportive wife. There is nothing that I do in the industry that I do not tell my wife. Anything you see me do online, I will tell my wife.

“I even show her pictures before posting. It works for me. I know the kind of person my wife is. She just wants to know what I do.

“Some of my content that you see online is shot by my wife. That is why I have been able to manage it. And I do not overdo it. That is why most of my female friends are friends with my wife.”

Addressing his controversial choice of content, Okunzuwa said producing sexually related material is a form of creative expression aimed at standing out in a crowded industry, rather than a deliberate provocation.

“For sexual content, I see those things online for fun. These are the things I do for fun. Anytime I say it for fun, my friends laugh,” he said.

“We are in a field where we have several talented people. I just wanted to stand out from the crowd. How do you stand out?

“I did not just want to be an actor. I knew some people would frown at it. I enjoy doing it. These are slang that I created for myself because of the algorithm.”

Okunzuwa married Deborah Raphael Nwokocha on August 22, 2015, and they have a daughter and a son together.
