Her Undergraduate Professor Told Her That She Won’t Make It To A Top Sch Like Columbia, After She Requested For Recommendation Letter, She Just Bagged Her Masters Degree At New York University

A lady named Elizabeth Laiza Kalu on Facebook has shared how her undergraduate professor belittled her career ambition, when she requested a recommendation letter from him, his response was she won’t make it to a top school like
NYU or Columbia.

Today she has bagged a master’s degree in Public Administration from New York University!

Read her post below:

MASTEREDIT: I remember an undergrad professor clearly telling my twenty-something year old self that I would never make it into a top school like NYU or Columbia. She said this after I asked for a recommendation letter.

Now I clearly understand that she was projecting her own insecurities on me and she didn’t expect a young black girl to have such ambitions. Thankfully, I know my identity in Christ is bigger than any degree and I’m fully backed by a God that can be trusted.

By the grace of God, yesterday I officially graduated with a Masters in Public Administration from New York University! What a joy to celebrate this season! 🎉💃🏽

From juggling policy classes, working on investment deals, applying design thinking methodologies to building community and networks, and going through a very stretchyyyy life process. My story is definitely longer than a one-time caption can accommodate.

✅ One thing remained constant throughout this journey – God.

I’m really grateful to God for the grace to start and complete this degree. For sending me the right support system in form of friends, family, professors, funders and several others who strengthened me through this season. It truly takes a village and I can testify to the power of community!

God is still doing miracles and I am a witness. What God cannot do for Laiza, does not exist.
