A young man named
Tomale Williams has been awarded scholarship at Chicago Kent College of Law. Tomale dreams are gradually unfolding as he has had this desire to become a lawyer since he was six years old, he watched a judge sentenced his dad to
nearly ten years in prison.

Tomale went further to narrate every other experiences he’s encountered that has inspired him to become a Lawyer.

Sharing a lengthy post on LinkedIn, he wrote:

I HAVE A FULL RIDE TO LAW SCHOOL 🌟

I am super excited to announce that I will be attending Chicago Kent College of Law on a TUITION-FREE SCHOLARSHIP.

I am beyond blessed and humbled to even be writing this at this very moment. I wanted to be a lawyer since I was six years old. As I sat in the courtroom, I watched a Judge sentence my father to nearly ten years in federal prison.

I watched as my uncle suffered in the jail system for over 20 years before his conviction was vacated by an appellate court nearly three years ago.

I watched my mom struggle to put me through school with the help of my grandmother to ensure that I received a proper education. I experienced racial profiling at it’s all time high when I was seventeen years old. I was attacked and racially profiled because I was running to the library with books in my hands in which officers had mistaken for weapons.

Those books (now law books) are the most competent weapons I can use to disrupt and dismantle this system of racial profiling and harassment. Through the long hours of LSAT preparation.. doing practice exams over and over.. I prevailed. I am thankfully for my now deceased grandmother (leelee) who came into my dreams last year of 2021 and told me that I will attend law school this year when I questioned it so much. She gave me her “YES” and since then that has guided me through this journey.

I have received acceptances to all the schools I applied too. I was also able to receive FOUR FULL RIDE OFFERS TO LAW SCHOOLS AND NEARLY 1 MILLION DOLLARS IN TUITION-FREE SCHOLARSHIPS.

As a Black-Queer young man from the westside of Chicago, I am so grateful to know that my dreams are finally coming true. I was told that a career in law wasn’t for me. I was told to become a teacher and I can change the world that way. But when there’s a calling and purpose on your life; God has a way of showing you exactly where you’re meant to be. MY LAW SCHOOL CHOICE WAS MADE FOR ME..BY ME. KENT LAW I believe out of the schools I had to choose from will give me the best legal education possible..

DON’T GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAMS!
