The governor of Kaduna state, Nasir El-Rufai has disclosed that it costs about N400,000 to treat each COVID-19.

El-Rufai made the disclosure on Monday, September 7, at the executive committee meeting of the traditional rulers. Governor El-Rufai has explained why it costs N400,000 to treat each COVID-19 patient.

He disclosed that the cost of treating COVID-19 patients is very expensive, Channels TV reported.

El-Rufai noted that the total cost of treatment covers the amount spent on isolation, feeding, medications, and the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that the doctors wear. According to the governor, the average cost of treating a COVID-19 patient is over N400,000 when all the various stages of treatment are summed up.

He thanked northern traditional rulers for spearheading the campaigns to avoid the spread of coronavirus pandemic in the region and urged then to continue to do so. The governor said the battle against COVID-19 will only be won when a vaccine is developed for the disease.
