The governor’s aide expressed optimism that the gesture will trigger excitement in the students to improve their academic performance.
An aide to Governor Udom Emmanuel, Prince Emmanuel Sam, has given out 600 sets of uniforms to pupils of Saint John’s Catholic Primary school, Eniong Offot, in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital. Prince Sam, the special assistant to the governor on local media, presented the uniforms to the headmistress of the school on Wednesday, February 26.
According to him, pupils properly dressed in clean uniforms would boost their confidence and excitement to learning. Prince Sam handing over the 600 sets of new uniform to the headmistress of the school.
He said old and torn school uniforms could dull the morale of pupils and lower their self-esteem and academic performance. He further said the donation was to show appreciation to his boss the governor for continuing the free and compulsory education policy of the state. “I am doing this in appreciation of my boss, the governor, His Excellency, Mr Udom Emmanuel who has kept the promise of continuing the free and education policy,” he said. He also thanked the governor for approving the fencing and construction of a modern toilet facility in the school.
