Founder Miss Amnesty Nigeria, Tracy Mcwary Shares How She Left Her Husband With Property He Bought In Her Name

Tracy Mcwary shared her story on Facebook, she wrote:

I was married to a Delta man from Delta North Senatorial District, and I must say, it wasn’t easy leaving him. The day I decided to pack out, he instructed the security man to lock the gate and then locked my car using the tracker he had installed. I had to call my brothers, one of whom was in the military and he arrived with his friends.

I also contacted a Deputy Commissioner of Police, who connected me to the Area Commander, and he immediately dispatched his men to my ex-husband’s house. When my ex-husband started driving back to stop me from leaving, he met men on the ground, the police officers, my brothers and their friends. He fled, and they followed him, but he managed to escape.

I was able to pack out safely and later called a towing van that took my vehicle to the Gwarinpa Police Station for safekeeping. Afterwards, I came back, removed the tracker, and took my car.

When you marry a Delta man, and you want to leave, make a plan. Don’t just leave—PLAN!

After I left, he tried to take back the car he bought for me, but since it was registered in my name, he couldn’t. He even went as far as using the then SARS to recover it and kept tracking me, harassing everyone I spoke to or visited.

In fear, I left Abuja for the East and pressured my parents to return the bride price. After my dad did, I went back and reported to the then SARS Commander and they began to investigate him. I also reported to SCID.

He was tracking me, and I was tracking him but he got nothing on me.

One day, he finally called and said, “Carry your car and wahala and go!” 🤣

And that was how the marriage ended.

As a woman, focus on becoming economically empowered and building genuine, powerful connections. Never let emotions cloud your sense of judgment or allow mediocrity to thrive in your relationship or marriage.

Learn to balance emotion with logic. Be realistic, strategic, and intentional in your decisions.

When you know your worth, stand in your power, and think clearly, no one can take advantage of you.
