APC LGA Chairman Slumps, Dies ‘During Reconciliation Meeting’ In Kogi

Oyewole Mayowa Solomon, chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ijumu LGA of Kogi state, has died.

According to Arise Television, Solomon reportedly slumped during a reconciliation meeting on Friday held at the Iyara town hall, the administrative headquarters of Ijumu LGA.

The broadcast station reported that the deceased was rushed to a medical facility after first aid was administered.

Solomon was said to have been pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the medical facility.

The reconciliation meeting, which was convened by Funsho Olumoko, a former chairman of Ijumu LGA, was meant to reconcile warring factions and stakeholders in the LGA.

The reconciliation meeting was a sequel to an earlier meeting in which Solomon and some officials had walked out over a disagreement.

KABBA/BUNU LGA BOSS MOURNS

In a statement, Zacchaeus Dare Michael, chairman of Kabba/Bunu LGA in Kogi, described the death of Solomon as a “painful loss”.

Michael commiserated with the deceased’s family and the people of Ijumu LGA.

“We received with profound sadness the news of the passing of the APC Chairman in Ijumu Local Government Area. His death is a painful loss to his immediate family, the APC family in Ijumu and the entire people of Ijumu Local Government Area,” the statement reads.

“At this difficult moment, on behalf of my family, the government and good people of Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the deceased’s family, the leadership and members of the APC in Ijumu, and the entire people of Ijumu LGA.”
