“We Couldn’t Afford It”- Hilda Baci Shares Reason Why She’s Celebrating Her Mum’s 50th Birthday Again As She Marks 55th Birthday

Hilda Effiong Bassey widely known as Hilda Baci, is a Nigerian celebrity chef, restaurateur, and media personality. She gained international fame in 2023 for setting a Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.

She recently celebrated her mum Lynda Ndukwe’s ’55th birthday last week saturday. And the founder of My Food By Hilda shared the emotional reason she decided to throw her mum a birthday bash.

Hilda revealed that when her mum turned 50 she and her siblings could not afford to celebrate a party for her. But as she turned 55 she’s glad she was able to give her a dream 50th birthday bash at 55.

The chef praised her mum while recounting days that she was embarrassed , looked down upon, and even disgraced, says she’s happy to see her smile now .

In her words:

“Last week Saturday, I had the honor of celebrating my mother’s 50th. It came five years late but it was right on time. At 55 God allowed me to give her the kind of celebration we couldn’t afford back then and I feel so blessed to have done it while she’s alive, strong and able to enjoy it .

When I think of where we are coming from, a time when my mum was embarrassed , looked down upon, even disgraced, now I see her smiling, radiant, celebrated and honored, my heart overflow with gratitude . God has truly lifted her.”
