Veekee James Recounts How Mr Atere Proposed To Her

Fashion designer Veekee James has shared the full story of how her husband, Femi Atere, proposed to her, revealing that the surprise happened the day after her birthday in 2023.

Speaking on Off the top with VJ Adams, she explained that Femi had told her they were going out for dinner that evening. She only began to suspect a proposal when they arrived at the apartment where it eventually happened.

According to her, “he refused to actually honk so that the security people would open the gate. He said he needed to check on the gate. I’m like, why are you checking on the gate at a place that you have no business at?”

She said she started to suspect something was happening but assumed it would be a private moment between the two of them. Instead, when she walked inside, she met her friends and family. “It was an amazing feeling,” she said.

Veekee added that although they had already been talking about marriage, she did not expect the proposal that day. She said she was ready and had always known she would say yes.

When asked when she knew he was the one, she replied, “I think I always knew… It was love at first sight.” She described Femi as peaceful, respectful, humble, and very innocent, noting that even when she first met him while she was in another relationship, she remained strongly attracted to him.

She also spoke about their first date, recalling her outfit and his. “I was wearing a jean and a cream and blue crop top. He was wearing a white senator.” She added that they had dinner at a restaurant called Cali. “I introduced him to pasta. He has never liked pasta, but now he loves pasta.”

Throughout the conversation, she described the early stages of their relationship as calm, beautiful, and full of certainty.
