A Nigerian-born medical doctor practising in the United Kingdom, Kikelomo Anunobi, has been praised for heroic deed.
Anunobi was said to have saved the life of a member of the public that was in danger of choking to death thus she lived up to her Hippocratic Oath, a vow taken by medical doctors on graduation which is to: “treat the ill to the best of one’s ability, to preserve a patient’s privacy, to teach the secrets of medicine to the next generation, etc.”
Anunobi who is a psychiatrist at Cheswold Park Hospital, a specialist mental health hospital in Doncaster, England, was not on duty when she left all she was doing to attend to a patient so as to save him from dying.
The Nigerian-born doctor was said be having refreshment with some of her colleagues in a restaurant when her attention was drawn to a choking patient. Anunobi was said to have immediately abandoned her meal and rushed down to the man’s aid, applying emergency procedures and eventually saving his life.
She continued administering first aid until paramedics arrived to take him to the hospital.
