Tunde Onakoya Appointed First-Ever Global Ambassador For WR Chess
Chess guru and Chess in Slums founder Tunde Onakoya has been named the first Global Ambassador for WR Chess, marking a landmark partnership that will see him champion chess development across continents.
In his heartfelt announcement, Tunde shared:
“I’m honoured to share that I have been appointed the first Global Ambassador for #wr_chess. This new chapter will take me across continents, promoting chess and impacting lives on a global stage from Africa, Asia, Latin America, and tours to a world record event in Peru in June.”
The appointment follows deep, hours-long discussions with WR Chess CEO Wadim Rosenstein in Paris, after which the two traveled together to the Prague Chess Festival.
Tunde emphasised the personal resonance: both he and Wadim rose from humble beginnings through chess, and now aim to open similar doors globally.
The announcement sparked massive excitement online, with fans, chess enthusiasts, and supporters flooding replies with congratulations.
This partnership builds on Tunde’s extraordinary achievements—Guinness World Record chess marathons, slum-to-global impact, and recent French chess outreach—positioning WR Chess as a major force in democratizing the game worldwide.
