The wife of Anambra state governor, Nonye Soludo, has celebrated two women who recently delivered quadruplets and triplets respectively at Referral Health Centre, Awgbu, and Enugwuabo Health Centre, Ufuma, both in Orumba North local government area.
Mrs Amuche Anoliefo, from Agulu in Anaocha local government area, gave birth to a set of four babies the same day Mrs Ujunwa Edeh, a native of New Ehamufu, Enugu state, but resides in Ufuma with her family, gave birth to triplet at the community health centre.
Both women are beneficiaries of recently introduced free antenatal care and delivery services in the state.
Soludo, on the reception of the news, booked a surprise visit to celebrate with the two mothers and present some gift items to the babies.
Speaking at each of the health facilities, the governor’s wife said the ongoing free antenatal care and delivery services in the state would continue to attend to the most primary health needs of women and save low-income families financial burdens.
She said: “The current administration will continue to unveil smart health policies that have a direct positive impact on the poor.”
She praised healthcare givers who attended to the women during the successful childbirth.
Expressing joy that both women were saved from the heavy financial burden running into millions of Naira occasioned by free antenatal care and delivery initiative, Soludo urged pregnant women in the state to take advantage of the programme.
