Shaffy Bello: Why I Tied My Fallopian Tubes 26 Years Ago
Shaffy Bello, the Nigerian actress, has opened up about her decision to have her fallopian tubes tied 26 years ago.
The actress hosted singer Waje and influencer Sisi Yemmie in a recent episode of her YouTube series ‘What I Know’ for a conversation about motherhood.
During the discussion, Bello revealed that she once decided to tie her tubes because she did not want to have many children.
“I had my tubes tied 26 years ago. For me, I didn’t want a lot of children; I wanted to stop,” she explained.
She clarified that the decision was not due to difficulties with pregnancy.
“I did it not because of the pregnancy, but because of raising the children. It is not the nine months but the life after,” she said.
The actress revealed that doctors operated on her navel to tie her tubes, effectively preventing the release of eggs required for conception.
“So they went through my navel, went in there, did what they needed to do, and they tied it up. That was it. They closed my eggs,” Shaffy said.
The actress also disclosed that her ex-husband had pleaded with her to have another child, but she remained firm in her decision. She emphasised that carrying a pregnancy was never an issue for her.
Shaffy was married to Akinrimisi from 1995 until 2020. She has two children.
