Popular content creator Shank has sparked reactions online after opening up about his tough reality living in the United States, and it’s not as glamorous as many think.

During a recent livestream, Shank revealed that he has lost a significant amount of weight since relocating, largely due to the high cost of Nigerian food abroad. According to him, a simple plate of rice and stew can cost as much as $30, making it difficult to maintain his usual diet.

He shared that he now survives mostly on bread because it’s more affordable, a situation that has clearly taken a toll on him physically.

In a moment that struck many Nigerians, Shank compared the situation to home, asking how much just a cup of rice costs in Nigeria.

He then added a statement that quickly went viral,“If you see any of your friends in America buying Nigerian food, just know they’re rich.”
