Nigerian Man Who Was Invited For An All- Expense Paid Event in South Korea Laments As He Needs A Visa And The Process Will Take More Than One Week, Says We Need To Fix Nigeria

Nigerian man named Nkwocha Tochukwu has shared his frustrations on how people lose great opportunities in Nigeria after he was invited to an all-expense paid event in South Korea but unfortunately he will need a visa and the process will take him more than one week and yet the event was a week time.

Tochukwu went further to express how people lose great opportunities while adding that Nigeria needs to be fixed.

In his words;

See eh, your passport can stain your white.

I remember one day in Dubai, I was having a meeting with two senior friends. One of them represented many South Korean businesses (some of you have seen my pictures with them. He was the one who brokered those connections).

In the middle of our discussion, he said: “There’s this event in South Korea next week. It was already Friday o. It’s all-expense paid. Just get yourself there and you’ll be reimbursed. I can put in a word for you.”

I just started laughing. He was confused – why laugh at such a huge opportunity?

I explained: “To go to South Korea, I’ll need a visa. And the process will take more than a week.”

He was shocked. He didn’t know how weak my passport was.

It’s like wanting to go to the US next week and you neither have a valid visa nor a strong passport.

That day I realized something clearly – many times, it’s not competence that stops people from grabbing opportunities. It’s access. The kind of passport you hold can decide whether doors swing open or stay locked.

And that’s why we must keep pushing, keep building, and when the chance comes, secure global access for ourselves and our children.

And, sincerely, the most enduring and inclusive way to do this is to fix Naija. We need Nigeria fixed. Achieving global access should not be only for those rich enough to japa. Because talent without access will always be handicapped.

What opportunities has your passport denied you?
