@olajideobe has gone down memory lane after welcoming his brother-in-law abroad.
@olajideobe encouraged his brother in-law to start from somewhere, as he narrated how he relocated abroad during COVID with just £200 pounds and the moment he started running out of cash he looked for a job and got one at a salad factory where he worked for just three weeks before he got a less stressful support worker job. Encouraging his brother-in-law who just resumed at the factory, he said it’s only for a while.
Sharing the throwback photo, he wrote:
“I left everything behind and packed only two suitcases of 23kg each filled with a few clothes, some of my many books and all my certificates. I had only £200 cash in my pocket too. It was post-covid period and I needed to self-isolate for I think 10 days or so.
Freshly out of covid isolation, I needed to get something doing as I was already running low in cash. My first ever job was in a salad factory with temperature below 0°C where I would be on my feet for 11hrs on a night shift. I was barely a two weeks old JJC here and this was my first ever shift. I did this job for about three weeks before I was able to get a more flexible and less stressful support worker job which I did to see out myself in school.
Thank God we don’t look like what we have gone through. If you don’t know people’s story, it will be very unfair of you to be a judge over their affairs and you shouldn’t envy them either. I know God hasn’t even started with me yet. I am still a work in progress.
Since we haven’t been able to get his DBS sorted yet and he is getting tired of staying at home, my brother inlaw who came into the country few weeks ago is going for his first shift in the same factory tonight. I showed him this picture to motivate him that it is not always very easy at the onset and he would cry secretly at some point, but in the end everything will be fine. Except if one is coming into western country with a skilled worker visa, it is almost unavoidable for one to first go through this humbling phase. I told him to ensure that he takes a picture of himself in the work coverall because it will help him to learn to be grateful to God in the near future.”
