@irebamiolakanim1 has shared an heartbreaking story on how her mum passed away on x. @irebamiolakanim1 narrated how her mum battled diabetes for 15 years and while at the hospital the doctors told her that they had to amputate her legs from her thighs. This made her mum to fall into coma, and she died.

Sharing her photos on x, she wrote:

“My mum died of diabetes, well she managed it well for more than 15yrs, at the point death was knocking, she grew older than her age, dementia started, I couldn’t just watch her like that though she refused getting treatment at UCH, but on that very day I was tired of listening to her, I was scared what her elder ones will say.

I told my younger brother to get her into the car and drive us. Immediately we got to UCH and the doctor told us they will amputate her leg from the thigh, she fell into coma, I received a call from UCH the next day to come and check on her, I told them I was already on my way. In other to make it faster since my younger brother can drive, I told him to get some money for us at the ATM while I just rush to UCH to check on her. It was more than shocking when the nurses started abusing me for not sleeping over that she died in midnight and I didn’t drop my number and my brother’s number (next of kin) was switched off, I told the nurse but I got a call few minutes ago, they said no one called me cos I didn’t drop my number.

For several years I blame myself for forcing her to go to UCH, I felt I killed her cause she didn’t even last 24hrs there but then it’s time I forgive myself, I did the right thing, I couldn’t have just watch her suffer in pains, the dementia made it worse cause we didn’t understand what she was saying at some point. I only tried my best for her as her first child, I did my best.

Keep resting on mum, iya Ope 🕊️.”
