Valerie Effik is a versatile business woman, she’s innovative, hardworking and highly prospective. She speaks to Elorasblog in this interview.

Please introduce yourself and tell us more about your background?

I am Valerie Effik from Akwa Ibom State, a mom, an engineer and a serial entrepreneur.

You’re an Entrepreneur, what does your business entails?

I am a serial entrepreneur meaning I am interested in having multiple streams of income but for now, my focus is on luxury travels, relationship and fashion, well, and bit of real estate upon request.

What is the name of your business?

My business name is EffikClan Solutions Limited.

EffikClan Solutions Limited is a versatile company that tackles problems that faces people in the day to day activities.

We provide travel solutions via our private shuttle services, we provide relationship solutions through our matchmaking and counseling services, we provide real estate solutions for people who are looking for investment opportunities for people.

Generally, we offer solutions to problems.

How do you manage three chains of business interwoven together?

I am a hyperactive woman and I hate to feel unproductive and sincere my businesses are mostly online, I always find time to attend to the three of them without clashing.

Did you attend any form of training?

I had attended series of marketing trainings while I was a banker and a bit of aviation training while I worked as a travel consultant. On my own, I have attended some number of certification courses on project management, entrepreneurship and relationship management.

What inspired you to start up Effik Clan Limited?

Mmmm! Everything inspires me but more so, my late grandfather. He was a go getter and I think I got that trait from him. Whenever I see a problem, I want to proffer solution. I started out helping close associates and it blossomed into a full blown company.

How were you able to raise fund to start up your business?

My businesses are not really cash intensive since I am providing solutions(services) not physical products but my company registration was paid for by a friend who saw more than I saw at that time when I was still scared about starting my own business. The only cash intensive investment is my fashion label which is coming along nicely and (we are preparing for a soft launch soon).

What major challenges have you encountered in your business?

Oh dear! you do not want to know.
It is hard striving in Nigeria especially when introducing a new idea to the market. If you are not passionate about your idea, you will give up as soon as you start.

Daily I have people give me a thousand and one reasons why luxury travel, private jets charter and shuttle, helicopter shuttle, matchmaking services cannot strive in Nigeria but truth is, that motivates me more.

Having to educate people on why they need to fly our business shuttle for a fee that is a bit higher than a regular commercial fee is the major challenge and also, having to make people understand why a matchmaker is the perfect person to help you find a desired life partner is also one hurdle I know I will cross in no time.

We only need to give people enough reasons to see that the services we offer are a necessity to a healthy mental health and a productive life style.

What platform do use to advertise your business?

I would say Instagram has been my best bet. Oh yea, Facebook too and I am learning the use of Twitter for business advertisements as well.

You’re the boss, how does it feel working for yourself?

When you win, it feels like you are walking on sunshine. When you lose, you feel like just throwing up your hands in the air and scream “I am done” lol but yea, the aim is to always win even in failures so it feels good always.

Will you say it’s been financially rewarding?

Yes it has been.
Since my business is not capital intensive but with a good turn over, it is a good place to be financially.

Where do you see your brand in 5 years?

I see every household having a piece of EffikClan in their lives. Our travel brand, fashion brand, relationship brand should be serving every household across Africa and the world by God’s grace.
