A man named Ayobami Edun has shared the challenges he encountered when he started his master’s in USA year 2017, at some point he lived with a family for a year. He had serious financial issues, today he’s a PHD holder.

Ayobami also took time to outline all his career achievements.

Sharing the post on LinkedIn while giving glory to God, he wrote:

When I came to the United States in 2017 for my masters degree, I was unsure of what awaits me. The first year had its toll as I could not get the funds for my tuition nor housing and I had to stay with a family for one year.

The picture in red shows the unsure me on my first day of class.

Fast forward to 2022, 3 years after PhD began:

✅ PhD done!

✅ 15 publications

✅ 2020 Outstanding Achievements Award from Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering

✅ 2021 Attributes of a Gator Engineering award for service to the community (the highest recognition given by UF Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering for service)

✅ Alec Courtelis award (the highest recognition given by University of Florida international center)

✅ Inducted into 2022 UF Hall of fame (The highest recognition given by the university of Florida to a student leader)

…and a couple more.

Beyond all these, I am thankful to the (countless) people that lifted my hands on this journey, the rich and diverse enabling communities, the ability to serve, and the knowledge that was garnered.

To God be the glory!
