Man Shares How His Friend Influenced His Scholarship Abroad, Says ” I Encourage You To Surround Yourself With The Right People”

A man named David Williams has shared how his friend influenced his Scholarship Abroad even though he was reluctant and stopped half way during the process.

Sharing the lengthy post on LinkedIn, he wrote;

The attached picture reminds me of a conversation I had with Isaac on a call in late February 2020. The deadline for the NAWA scholarship application was getting closer, and I had decided I wasn’t going to apply. Then I received a call from Isaac, a beneficiary at that time.

The following conversation followed.

Isaac: Hi, have you submitted your NAWA scholarship application?

Me: Well, I started filling it, but when I got to the proposal section, I just decided not to proceed with it. I don’t have time to start writing a proposal; besides, how can I write an SOP and then write a proposal as well. I think it’s too much to do with my busy schedule.

Isaac: I think you’re getting the whole thing wrongly. There is no SOP, and the proposal is just a three to five-page write-up.

Me: Oh, okay, I will get back to it and see (By the way, at that time, I was even helping people to write their proposals 😆 for pay).

I went online again and continued my application; it seemed easy, as he said. I got my proposal across to him and some other mentors who helped to edit the work before I made my application. The rest they say is history.

Looking at the attached picture, you’d see us hanging out after everything was successful.

Why am I sharing this story?

I will like to encourage you to surround yourself with the right people, and you would have scaled through halfway across your life’s journey. Nothing cripples or hinders your progress like conformity to a mediocre circle. Never be comfortable in the wrong environment—distance yourself from toxic friends who add nothing but negativity to your life. Beyond that, surround yourself with the right set of people whose words could make complex tasks suddenly become easy to handle. Above all, be that friend you wish you had.

Today, I want to celebrate the impact of a good friend, Isaac Paul, and use this medium to tell someone out there to take the bold step to complete that scholarship or job application, book 📚 , course content, research work, send that email, etc.

You only fail when you stop trying.
