Man Gets Awarded With Two Prestigious Scholarships After Several Rejections In 2021

Excited young man named Waheed I. has shared the challenges he encountered during his scholarship applications in year 2021.

Waheed who commenced his study program at Wageningen University & Research where he would be pursuing a MSc program in Biology has shared how he was awarded
two prestigious scholarships after several rejections in 2021.

Read his testimony below as shared on LinkedIn:

It may not be this year, but I’m sure I will eventually get my YES one day, that was what I told myself after receiving my last application outcome in 2021.

Dear LinkedIn family, I am delighted to inform you that I finally got my YES. not just one, but two prestigious scholarships after several rejections in 2021.

The journey began in 2020 during my National service, at this time, I already have an idea of what I want, which is to further my study in a developed world within an international community, but I have no idea of how to achieve it.

I started to submit my application in 2021 which all came back with premium rejections except the one that I gave to some scholars Boniface Nyamweya and Chidera Anuforo to review which is the Queen Elizabeth commonwealth scholarship and it came with reserve.

Then, I was like, maybe not this year, I will eventually get my YES one day (Different success stories I saw on LinkedIn kept the fire burning in me to the extent that I screenshotted a lot of them to keep reminding myself that I will achieve my goals too).

Then I started to prepare again, I watch several YouTube videos of which Victor Agboga YouTube video content is indeed of a great help, especially tips for writing commonwealth shared essays and I also know about Wageningen ASP through the channel.

I started to connect with scholars in the program I am applying for, through this, I had the opportunity to connect with my mentor Benjamin Joshua who gave me a deep, close, and serious mentorship, help me in reviewing several of my essays, and prepared me for the interview.

I also had the privilege to connect with Samson Omeiza Balogun and Oluwafemi Jude Ogunmola who helped in reviewing my commonwealth shared essays.

After I submitted my applications for 2022, I checked my 2021 essays and I questioned myself, “I’m I the one who wrote this” because those SOPs are not good.

To cut the story short, after a tough selection process, I was privileged to be among the 10 selected ASP scholars from Africa to study at the prestigious Wageningen University & Research and I was also nominated for commonwealth share scholarship to study at Aberystwyth university which I later declined.

Last week Monday, I commence my study program at Wageningen University & Research where I will be pursuing a MSc program in Biology with a specialization in Health and Disease (cell biology and immunology).

To wrap it up, I will like to say a big that to everyone who had contributed to my journey…

Congratulations to him.
