Lady Gets Fined ₦450K For Failing To Visit Man After Reportedly Collecting ₦30,000 Transport Fare

A viral report on X (formerly Twitter) claims that a Nigerian magistrate court has fined a woman identified as Jennifer the sum of ₦450,000 or, alternatively, sentenced her to seven years in jail for failing to honor a promise to visit a man after collecting transport fare.

According to the circulating accounts, Jennifer had received ₦30,000 from a man named Emmanuel as transport money but failed to show up as agreed. The court reportedly treated the matter as a “breach of promise,” ruling that her failure to fulfill the arrangement justified the penalty.

The story gained traction online after a le@ked video allegedly captured Jennifer’s stunned reaction in court, sparking conversations with the trending phrase, “Not expected.”

While the viral posts emphasize the unusual severity of the punishment compared to the initial ₦30,000 at issue, questions remain about the legal foundation of the ruling and why the penalty was set as high as ₦450,000 or the possibility of a jail term if unpaid.
