Kate Henshaw Speaks About The Heat Crisis Right Now In Nigeria Amidst The No Light Situation

As Nigeria battles an intense heatwave alongside persistent power outages, citizens across the country are taking to social media to vent their frustrations. Among them is veteran Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw, who has always been vocal about social issues affecting everyday Nigerians.

The power situation has become unbearable for many especially as homes and businesses struggle to cope with the oppressive heat that’s being worsened by the lack of electricity. Amidst all this, the national grid has continued to collapse sporadically, leaving many Nigerians relying on expensive and noisy generators, or worse, being forced to endure the very hot temperatures with no power at all.

In a new rant posted on her social media, Kate Henshaw tackles on these problems speaking about the heat crisis right now in Nigeria amidst the no light situation. Kate spoke, saying:

KATE HENSHAW: Ah! It is so hot. It is, like, heated hot. This is 2025. No light. Why is there no light? Why? Why are we in darkness during the day, during the night? Why? 2025. Nigeria, we are still talking about electricity.

Then they brought bandless band. No band on the band. There’s no band! The elastic has finished on the band. The national grid is now collapsible at will. Anyhow—kpa kpa—the neck breaking? Why? Why? Why are we suffering in this country, people? It’s wickedness, oh. I’m telling you.

Now you get home, you bathe with cold water because even the water from the tap is hot. So you put your water out the night before, hoping that it will still cool. So maybe we need clay pots at this point in time.

How many times will someone bathe in a day, ehn? You bathe, you tie towel, and air-dry because drying brings heat. Then fan—the fan is blowing the heat into your body. It’s hot! Please, oh!

Minister of Power, give us light. I don’t even mind paying the increased tariff, but where is the light? Every time, allegedly, now I hear they want to increase it again. To what? Increase of charges into nothingness.

You people should have mercy sometimes now. We’re suffering too much. It’s hot. If you put your egg outside, you don’t need frying pan—just put it on the bonnet of your car. It would be fried. Omelette or scramble, as you like. No, na.

You people should give us light! Why are we still struggling with power in 2025? Then at night, you can’t sleep. Gen will be making noise, then you people will pack yourself and go for climate change exercise, releasing of no toxins or whatever? Why?

Give us light. Give us light. Give us light. Please. I don’t have energy to be angry. I’m begging. This is me on a calm, hot, sunny day. God bless you. Give us light.
