Yesterday marked a very important day of my life, the day I officially became an American.
5 years ago I moved from Egypt with little money and a huge dream, the American dream.
I knew that in America working hard will pay off, and the opportunities were endless. But what I didn’t know was the amount of support that I would get from every person that knew my hustle.
I worked as an Uber driver 8 -10 hrs/day for 2 years, I worked on new year’s, holidays and weekends while building 2 startups in the U.S and Egypt.

I remember telling my story in the Uber ride to my customers hoping they would buy some of my products in the trunk or maybe find someone who would be willing to mentor me in the right direction, and they did, many people bought my $250 bag during a $10 dollar trip, people believed in my dream and respected my passion, some of them couldn’t afford to buy from me, but almost everyone showed me the moral support. Many of them are LinkedIn connections who still supporting me.
Today and after 5 years, both companies have almost 100 employees, thanks to everyone who believed in us and gave us a word of encouragement, this might seem insignificant, but it really is.
My goal now is to give back to the country that trusted me and help push it forward, create jobs and build things that can make their lives easier and better. 🇺🇲
My bigger goal is to open the eyes of the world to what Egyptian youth can achieve when they get a real chance, we built history before and can build it over and over again. Egyptians have been going through a lot during the last century, political instability, terrorism, and revolutions. And even though, this country is still standing and creating legends in science, sports, literature, business, and many more.
Special thanks to my amazing wife Colette Ghunim for standing by my side through good and bad.
I hope my story inspires people to never give up no matter what their dream is, If it inspires you, please share the message
🇪🇬🇺🇲
