Gunmen Attack Kogi Church, Abduct Pastor, Wife And Others

Gunmen stormed a Cherubim and Seraphim Church in Ejiba, Yagba West LGA of Kogi State during Sunday service, abducting the pastor, known as Orlando, his wife, and several other worshippers.

The sudden attack threw the community into panic as members fled amid heavy gunfire.

Residents described the incident as shocking and frightening, noting that the bandits arrived unexpectedly and disrupted the service. The exact number of kidnapped victims remains unclear.

In response, the Kogi State Government said it has intensified surveillance and launched a manhunt for the attackers. Commissioner for Information and Communication, Kingsley Fanwo, said security agencies and the Yagba West Local Government authorities are working to ensure the safe rescue of all abducted persons.

He added that Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo is directly coordinating security operations and urged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity.Fanwo also advised worship centres located in isolated or high-risk areas to rethink holding services there until security improves.
